GET LITE, film screening and post-screening talk

Join us for filmmaker Lance Steagall’s GET LITE, a new documentary about NYC’s Litefeet culture.

Litefeet is the new American dance; a dance done by hustlers and dreamers; a dance of ambition and talent in pink poodle shoes; a dance of talented youth looking for a break in a city that’s criminalized their movements.

GET LITE is a documentary film featuring Litefeet dancers, known to most New Yorkers for their cries of SHOWTIME! on the subway. Featuring KIDD PATT, JAYY BLACK, LARRY SMOOVE, and many more, GET LITE follows these dancers above ground into the projects, public spaces, and dance studios of NYC, shining a light on the extensive roots, and fruits, of their culture and the reality of those living it.

The free screening will be followed by a talk with the film’s director, Lance Steagall and dancers Kidd Patt, Jayy Black and Larry Smoove.
